Helping local people into work is a priority for Waltham Forest Council, and the Adult Learning Service is doing what it can to make sure residents have the skills they need to access jobs.
Previously called Community Learning and Skills Service (CLaSS), the Council's Adult Learning Service has transformed the way it works to better equip residents with the skills and experience they need to gain employment.
Councillor Mark Rusling, Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources and Economic Development at Waltham Forest Council, said: "We're committed to doing everything we can to help local people into work”.
"Making sure that they have the relevant skills to meet the needs of the borough's businesses is also great news for employers. In doing this we hope to make the borough more attractive to businesses which in turn will help to create more local jobs."
"Without Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service – CLaSS courses I would never have had the confidence to go to the interview let alone work as a curtain maker. The work is high end quality and very satisfying" Rifat, learner Curtain Making course
"I wanted to let you know that I got the promotion. I start on 15th April. Thank you for all your help; Preparation and confidence was definitely the key," said, Clement, Job Skills Workshop
