What do you expect to find in a library?
During Adult Learners’ Week in May, 16 English, Maths and ESOL groups accepted an invitation to visit one of the Borough’s libraries. They were all met by a member of the library staff, given a tour of the library, and invited to stay and explore the range of books and information. The learners were surprised to find how much there is to see and do, and many of them joined the library at the end of the visit. Library membership is free to all and gives you access to so much. There are ten libraries across Waltham Forest, providing free access to 250,000 books. Library membership also gives access to nine other library services, including Havering, Redbridge, Newham and Enfield, giving you a choice from over 3 million books. As well as books there are 1000s of CDs and DVDs for hire at low prices.
When you enrol on your next CLaSS course you will be invited to consider joining Waltham Forest libraries. CLaSS will issue you with a library card - you will just need to visit your local Waltham Forest library and start borrowing.
If you would like to visit the library with the other members of your course, please speak to your tutor. The library staff will be really pleased to see you, and will show you the books and resources that interest you.
